Speaker Code of Conduct
Vanguard Impact Summit is committed to creating a professional, respectful, and productive environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all speakers, facilitators, moderators, and contributors participating in Vanguard Impact–hosted events.
By participating as a speaker, you agree to uphold the standards outlined below.
1. Respect and Professionalism
All speakers are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism at all times, including during sessions, networking activities, rehearsals, and informal interactions.
This includes:
- Treating attendees, fellow speakers, staff, and partners with respect
- Engaging in discussions thoughtfully, even where perspectives differ
- Avoiding dismissive, derogatory, or inflammatory language or behavior
- Refraining from personal attacks, harassment, or intimidation of any kind
2. Inclusive and Responsible Communication
Vanguard Impact serves a diverse audience across industries, identities, and lived experiences. Speakers are expected to communicate in ways that are welcoming, accessible, and appropriate for a professional audience.
Speakers must:
- Use language that is respectful and inclusive
- Avoid content that stereotypes, marginalizes, or excludes individuals or groups
- Be mindful of power dynamics, particularly in interactive or discussion-based sessions
3. Accuracy, Integrity, and Substantiation
Vanguard Impact prioritizes clarity, credibility, and practical value. Speakers are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the information they present.
Speakers must:
- Avoid sharing false, misleading, or unverified claims
- Clearly distinguish between evidence-based information, professional opinion, and personal experience
- Cite sources or acknowledge limitations where appropriate
- Avoid sensationalism or exaggerated claims of outcomes or effectiveness
Content that could reasonably be interpreted as misinformation, particularly in areas such as health, finance, legal matters, or emerging technologies, must be handled with care and appropriate disclaimers.
4. Non-Promotional Content Standards
Vanguard Impact is not a sales platform. Sessions are designed to provide value through insight, tools, and learning → not promotion.
Speakers must:
- Avoid overt sales pitches, product demonstrations, or promotional calls to action during sessions
- Refrain from collecting attendee contact information without explicit consent
- Ensure any references to personal or professional work are contextual and relevant, not promotional
Any exceptions must be explicitly approved in advance by the Vanguard Impact organizing team.
5. Appropriate Use of Platform and Time
Speakers are expected to respect the event format, schedule, and audience experience.
This includes:
- Adhering to agreed session length and structure
- Participating in required briefings or rehearsals
- Using provided platforms and tools appropriately
- Following moderation or facilitation guidance during live sessions
Disruptive behavior, disregard for session guidelines, or repeated failure to follow instructions may be treated as a violation of this Code.
6. Compliance with Event Policies and Agreements
Speakers must comply with all applicable event policies, including:
- Speaker agreements and contracts
- Confidentiality requirements
- Recording, intellectual property, and content usage terms
- Platform-specific rules and technical guidelines
Where there is a conflict between this Code of Conduct and a signed agreement, the agreement will govern.
7. Reporting Concerns
Concerns regarding violations of this Code of Conduct may be reported to the Vanguard Impact organizing team by attendees, speakers, staff, or partners.
Reports will be reviewed promptly and handled with discretion. Vanguard Impact reserves the right to investigate concerns and take appropriate action.
8. Consequences of Violations
Vanguard Impact reserves the right to take corrective action if this Code of Conduct is violated.
Actions may include, but are not limited to:
- A formal warning
- Modification or cancellation of a session
- Removal from the event without refund or compensation
- Disqualification from future Vanguard Impact events
Severe or repeated violations may result in immediate removal. Additional consequences may apply as outlined in the speaker’s contract.
Acknowledgement
Participation as a speaker constitutes acknowledgement of and agreement to this Code of Conduct. Vanguard Impact reserves the right to update this Code as necessary to ensure a safe, professional, and high-quality event experience.
