Jamila Godfrey is a Brain Fitness Coach and the managing director of Village of Play, based in Cochrane, Alberta. She helps individuals, families, and organizations build cognitive fitness and executive function, the set of mental skills behind focus, flexibility, self-regulation, and follow-through.

Much of Jamila’s work starts from a simple observation. Most of the moments where people wish they had communicated better were not really about the words. They were about a nervous system that was already overloaded before anyone opened their mouth. When pressure climbs, the brain’s capacity for clear, measured thinking drops, and the default moves become escalating, over-explaining, or shutting down. Jamila teaches people how to notice that shift and steady themselves first, so the words that follow actually represent them.

Her Capacity Under Pressure framework brings this to life through practical, repeatable tools. Participants leave with specific language, body-based reset techniques, and a way of thinking about their own attention and composure that they can use the same week. Jamila is known for making brain science feel usable and human, grounded in real workplace and family scenarios.

A recurring theme in her work is that the skills we admire in high performers are coached. The composure of elite athletes is built through years of deliberate, intentional practice with the right support around them. Jamila brings that same lens to everyday cognitive skills, helping people and teams treat focus, regulation, and clear communication as capacities they can train.

As a facilitator and speaker, Jamila is interactive, warm and direct, with a habit of trusting her audience to do the thinking. She is drawn to rooms where people come ready to practice what they learn.
